I came in for a 35,000 check and the tech found a hole in the trans pan causing a leak. MIKE was outstanding working with me. He even suggested submitting to my insurance since Toyota did not cover the road damage which saved me a lot.

This dealership performs poorly. My first experience was taking in a 6 month old Camry Trd for an oil change. It was supposed to have maintenance covered for two years. They didn’t change the oil claiming it didn’t need to be change for 10,000 miles. The manual that comes with the car says 6 months or 5k miles if you make frequent short trips, which we do. So, you get two oil changes in two years under their “free maintenance,” which is contrary to the manual Toyota gives you with the car. The second experience was taking a Tacoma in for a rear brake job including new pads and re-surfacing the rotors, which was the dealer recommendation. After they did that, the brakes vibrated like crazy. Took it back the next day, they said the rotors were pulled off the machine too early. They re-did the resurfacing job, taking another half a day, and it was satisfactory, no vibrations. Third visit was for an oil change scheduled at 3:15. I called at 6:30 and they said they will be done by 7 when they close. This is a great place for factory service if you want to spend a lot of time running back and forth to get a 2 two hour brake job done in a day and a half, or a great place to not get your oil changed and void your warranty, or schedule an oil change that takes 4 hours. Your time means nothing to them.

We regret to hear this and will attempt to address all of your concerns. Every new Toyota includes Toyota Care. This program provides the owner with no cost maintenance on their new Toyota according to the owner’s manual. It does not include special operating conditions. Toyota has been using full synthetic oil in the cars for many years now and the standard oil change interval is 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Toyota Care pays for that, plus tire rotations and multi-point inspection every 5000 miles plus roadside assistance for 2 years, regardless of mileage. Under the special operating conditions, additional maintenance is recommended which includes oil changes at 5000 or 6 months. Toyota defines special operating conditions as either “repeated trips of less than 5 miles in temperatures below 32F” or “extensive idling and/or low speed driving for a long distance such as police, taxi or door-to-door delivery use.” Toyota also is very specific that “You should perform these additional maintenance services only if the majority of your driving is done under the special operating conditions indicated. If you only occasionally drive under these circumstances, it is not necessary to perform the additional services.” If a customer chooses to follow the more intensive oil change schedule, we only charge for the oil since the tire rotation and multi-point inspection are covered by Toyota Care. Most customers elect to follow Toyota’s less intense schedule when they realize that Toyota has been using full synthetic oil for many years and using the same schedule for that time. On the rear brake issue, we are a bit confused. The Tacoma does not and has never used disc brakes on the rear so we could not have replaced the pads or resurfaced rotors. If you meant that the rear drum was not properly resurfaced, and that we replaced the shoes, we certainly understand that you want it done right the first time. Our technicians are human and when they make a mistake, we will correct it as it appears we did in this case. As for the amount of time it takes to get things done, we are aware of this and are taking measures to improve it. We are actively looking to recruit and train more technicians. Things have improved lately but we know we have more work to do. On a final note, your review didn’t give us enough clues as to your identity.
