Lexus’ runaway bestseller is maintaining its pace for the 2025 model year. The mid-size RX SUV gains a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a couple of new design packages, but it’s otherwise unchanged.

What’s New

The more visually interesting of the two new looks is the Black Line Special Edition. Only available on the RX 500h, the Black Line Special Edition is sprayed an exclusive shade of gray Lexus calls Incognito, which is offset by black mirrors and exterior trim, as well as black 21-inch wheels and orange brake calipers. Lexus will only sell 500 examples.

Likely of interest to more buyers is the new F Sport Design trim level, offered on the gas-only RX 350 and hybrid RX 350h. It shares its black front and rear fascias, grille and 21-inch wheels with the available F Sport Handling, but it forgoes that trim level’s sport-tuned suspension. Inside, the F Sport Design features black open-pore wood trim.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The 2025 Lexus RX is available with a bewildering range of powertrains, though all but the base RX 350 come with standard all-wheel drive. The RX 350 is powered by a 275-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 317 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Lexus expects the RX 350 will return 22/29/25 mpg city/highway/combined with front-wheel drive and 21/28/24 mpg with AWD (official EPA ratings are not yet available).

The RX 350h has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder sans turbo but with hybrid assist; it puts out a total of 246 hp and 233 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a continuously variable automatic. The RX 350h gets a Lexus-estimated 37/34/36 mpg.

Stepping up to the RX 500h gets a turbo 2.4-liter four-cylinder and hybrid assistance, combining to produce 366 hp and 406 pounds-feet; it comes with a six-speed automatic. The RX 500h’s fuel economy is expected to come in at 27/28/27 mpg.

At the top of the lineup is the plug-in hybrid RX 450h+. It combines the 350h’s 2.5-liter four with more potent electric motors that draw juice from a larger battery pack for a maximum of 304 hp; it has a CVT, as well. Capable of 35 miles on electricity alone, the 450h+ is expected to return 36/33/35 mpg in hybrid mode.
