We love he!
We love our Subaru’s and we were so excited when they came out with a model with a third row. Two weeks in and we love it, we are currently on a road trip and it’s been terr.

Great car but user controls are a mess
The car looks good, drives great and performance is acceptable. The car is comfortable and quiet and both the interior and exterior are attractive. We don't know anything about reliability yet as the car is very new. Unfortunately it seems to have been designed by folks who are so smart they can make all our decisions for us. As a result, the user controls and the display interface are a total mess. That's why I downgraded the 'Interior Design' category.

Owned since September 2018
First and foremost I would not classify myself as a Subaru owner for life. The 2019 Ascent is the second Subaru I’ve owned. I formulated most of my opinions about Subaru from the 2014 Legacy I own (and still drive daily). First of all this thing is massive. If you’re buying or considering buying the Ascent because of its fuel economy I would think twice. I definitely did not buy the Ascent for its mpg capability. Power and drive: This thing is fast, and feels fast. When you stomp the pedal it has tons of power thanks to that turbocharger under the hood. That’s great but just remember you’re getting 5mpg with the pedal mashed to the floor. At crushing speeds (65-75) driving flat and inclines I averaged 24 mpg on. 700 mile road trip. When I needed power it was there and when I needed fuel economy it was there also. The AWD system is on all the time and in the rain and snow I literally do not wonder if I’ll need to slow down but rather you need to figure out how to get through traffic. Technology: I opted for the limited trim with the technology package. The panoramic sunroof is beautiful and has worked as advertised. My ONLY complaint is that the sound system is lacking. The Harmon kardon sound system is basic at best in this thing. The sound system in my 2014 premium model Legacy sounds amazing compared to this thing. The touchscreen is responsive however, and the apple car play features are extremely convenient. Safety: the Eyesoght system is cool. I had never owned a car with it before so of course I have a few things I don’t like about it. What I do like about it is it’s safe. If the eyesight system thinks you are in danger it will slow you down and most of the time do it faster than you. My wife and kids are in this car everyday and I am comfortable knowing that eyesight has their back. Now on to the things I personally don’t like about eyesight. Adaptive cruise control. It would be nice if you could turn Eyesight off...and just cruise. It is a minor nuisance BUT you must know....without eyesight...you have no cruise control. When it’s raining and you are on a road trip with cruise control set, of eyesight trips off your car will slam forward and you will get freaked out as to “why is my car slowing down”. It would be REALLY convenient if Subaru had an option to just let the car cruise...without the adaptive cruise control feature, just like my 2014 Legacy. Comfort and convenience: 19 cup Holders is not that big of a deal to me but it’s nice having cup holders for my kids. THEY think it’s cool and it’s one less thing to fight about on a road trip. The seats are extremely comfortable over long distances and the real win is the amount of USB ports located throughout the car. Last and most important....space. If you’re think about this car for the cargo space you will not be disappointed. It’s huge...and there is a ton of room. This is the first road trip where everyone got to bring their suitcase and I never had to say “we don’t ha e room for that”. To sum up this review, I would recommend the Ascent to someone who is a former Subaru owner who appreciates the AWD system and safety features that it has at its disposal. If you are looking for super awesome mpg and minimal cup holders you should look elsewhere. You will be hard pressed to find the used Subaru that you are looking for because people don’t get rid of them.

Best car I’ve owned
It’s wonderful. Handles great, feels secure, good visibility, great features. Excellent! It’s not too big that you feel like you’re driving a boat, but is very spacious. It has leg room in all rows and is great for car seats.

Lots of options for your growing family and needs
In needing a vehicle for many grandchildren and/or adult children/spouses, I was impressed how easily I could climb into the very back of the Ascent. Granted, no adult will sit in the way back on a cross country trip, but of the many other maker/models we tried, the 7-seat limited was one of the easiest for our old knees/legs to navigate. The numerous safety devices (eyesight, lane assist, backup camera), multiple USB ports, and beverage holders will help us to haul around the whole darn family. Seats are comfortable; love the window shades for the second row of seats.

Time will tell. Only had the car for a week.
Great grandson loves it. He can't wait for our trip to try out the captain and bench seat. Plenty of leg room front and back. Comfortable so far.

Very well appointed vehicle and meets all my needs
This vehicle meets all my needs in a package that other manufactures can not match. Leg room and fit are by far the best. Power is just what it needs at a cost that other manufactures can't match.

Love this car
This is the second Subaru I?ve owned and I?m so glad they decided to make a larger SUV. I loved my outback too, but with three kids, I really needed more room and more seats. The Ascent delivers that, along with excellent handling and comfort.
