Expert 2021 Porsche Cayenne review

porsche cayenne gts 2021 OEM 01 jpg

Porsche has a habit of releasing new cars one trim at a time, and the latest pieces of its model lineup are the 2021 Cayenne GTS and related Cayenne GTS Coupe. The new SUVs — “coupe” is a marketing play — are more powerful than base and S models, and they feature a sportier appearance along with lower ride height and centers of gravity for improved performance.

Sporty Engine

Both models will have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 that produces 453 horsepower and 457 pounds-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Porsche says both SUVs will sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds or 4.2 seconds with the Performance Start feature, part of the Sport Chrono Package that’s standard on the Cayenne Coupe and optional on the Cayenne. The previous-generation Cayenne GTS, by contrast, hit 60 mph in 4.8 seconds with the package and 4.9 seconds without it. Top speed for both 2021 Cayenne GTS models is 168 mph.

Sporty Sound and Looks

GTS models come standard with a sport exhaust system that produces “a fitting soundtrack to the enhanced dynamics.” While that system has tailpipes at the outboard sides of the rear, a center exhaust system is available as part of the optional Lightweight Sport Package. Both models also sit more than an inch lower than Cayenne S models thanks to revised adaptive shock absorbers, which helps to lower the GTS’ center of gravity and improve handling.

The Sport Design appearance package is standard on GTS models and features black exterior accents. Also standard are black 21-inch wheels and tinted LED headlights and taillights.

Inside, the interior makes generous use of Alcantara suede and black brushed-aluminum accents. Power eight-way front sport seats are exclusive to the GTS and feature taller side bolsters and GTS logos on the head restraints. GTS logos also appear on the tachometer, door sills and front doors.

Lofty Price

The 2021 Cayenne GTS will start at $108,650 while the 2021 Cayenne Coupe GTS will start at $111,850; both prices include a $1,350 destination fee. Porsche expects GTS models will arrive at dealerships in the fall.

22 inch rims with P zero are not good for North E

Traded in a Cayenne 2016 base for a 2021 Cayenne Coupe base. I can’t get accustomed to the car yet after 3 months. The car was equipped with 22 inch rims with Pirreli P Zero that are not meant for winter driving. The cost for a set of 20 with tires are going for $5500.00 at my local dealer. I think the car is not functioning properly with the summer tires in the winter. Let’s see how the car performs in the spring & summer. I plan to buy a new set of rims and tires for next winter

Beautiful and very fast!!!

I owed a 2010 Cayenne GTS and thought that SUV was awesome. Porsche has really stepped up their game. The 2021 Cayenne GTS is very stunning and drives like a 911. Extremely happy so far!!
