The Mitsubishi Outlander is a compact SUV with three rows of seating for up to seven people, though the third row is only big enough for small children. The gasoline-only Outlander is powered by a 181-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, while Outlander PHEVs use a plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs the 2.4-liter engine with two electric motors to make a combined 248 hp. Both versions come with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The conventional Outlander comes with front- or all-wheel drive, while the PHEV is AWD-only.
