Expert 2024 Lincoln Aviator review

our expert's take

our expert's take

What Is the 2024 Lincoln Aviator?

The Lincoln Aviator is a three-row luxury mid-size SUV that competes with a wide range of rivals, including the Genesis GV80, Lexus RX and TX, Acura MDX and Volvo XC90. A smooth ride and powerful 400-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 make this Lincoln both a calming and quick place in which to spend time.

What’s New on the 2024 Lincoln Aviator?

The Grand Touring plug-in hybrid version has been discontinued and the entry-level Standard trim level has been renamed Premiere. The Aviator is scheduled to get a significant refresh for the 2025 model year.

What Features in the 2024 Lincoln Aviator Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Amazon Alexa
  • Four USB ports
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Satellite radio
  • Tri-zone climate control
  • 10-speaker audio system
  • Power-adjustable front seats
  • Heated front seats
  • Automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning
  • Blind spot warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Front and rear parking sensors

Available features include:

  • Leather seating
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Quad-zone climate control
  • Navigation
  • Wireless device charging
  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • 360-degree camera system
  • 20- or 22-inch alloy wheels

Should I Buy the 2024 Lincoln Aviator?

Lincoln has a recent habit of delivering luxury SUVs that are roomy, quiet, relaxing to drive and relatively affordable compared with pricier rivals. The three-row Aviator is no exception: It’s attractive, comfortable and has an infotainment system that takes only a moment to master. The cabin is top-quality, too, though the third-row seats are best used only by kids. The Black Label version commands a serious price premium over the rest of the Aviator lineup, but it adds lots of exclusive luxury features and premium Lincoln-dealer services.

Having had several Lincoln’s over the years, the technology in this car has taken a step back from previous models in functionality and options. The engine is noisier than my 2016 MKX. The fuel mileage is 20% less than the MKX that had the larger 3.7L engine with 8 year older technology.
