Expert 2025 Ford Bronco review

ford bronco big bend 2025 exterior front angle 18 jpg

Since Ford introduced the new Bronco for the 2021 model year, it’s found some significant success against its main competitor, the venerable Jeep Wrangler. And why wouldn’t it? It has the same formula of removable doors and top, incredible off-road capability and iconic heritage style, but it beats the Wrangler in on-road civility, powertrain choice and interior space. There have been some updates and special editions to the Bronco over the years since its introduction, but it’s about to see its most significant changes yet for 2025 — not in terms of its looks, mind you, but Ford has been listening to its customer base and made some small but meaningful changes to packages, trims and interior features to help more with affordability than capability.

Trim Level Consolidation

The first thing to know is that there’s been some trim level consolidation for the 2025 model year. Gone are the Everglades, Heritage Limited Edition, Wildtrak and Black Diamond trims; sticking around are the Big Bend, Outer Banks, Heritage Edition, Badlands and Raptor. Making a welcome return to the lineup is a new Base trim, which supposedly features a surprising amount of content.

The Black Diamond variant is now a package for the Big Bend trim that will add advanced full-time four-wheel drive, auxiliary switches in the overhead console with prerun wiring for additional things like lights or winches, LED foglamps, steel underbody bash plates, rock rails, rubberized washout-capable flooring and 17-inch gloss wheels.

There are also two new special editions to consider for the 2025 Bronco: the Stroppe Edition for the two-door and the Free Wheeling four-door.

The appearance of the Bronco doesn’t change for the 2025 model year, but you can alter it yourself if you choose with a new Black Appearance Package (available on the Big Bend, Outer Banks and Badlands trims). It adds black plastic mirror caps, fender flares, door handles and grille, as well as a special black graphics package and a black painted hard top. If you add the Black Appearance Package to a Bronco that also has the Sasquatch off-road package, you’ll get gloss-black beadlock-capable painted aluminum wheels, too. If black isn’t your thing, you can now also get a body-color painted hard top as an option on the Outer Banks and Badlands trims, something that was previously only available on the Bronco Raptor. If you want more paint protection for your Bronco, you can now order a factory-applied Matte Clear Film treatment for two- or four-door non-Raptor Broncos, as well.

New Standard Equipment

Aside from the trim changes, the big news for 2025 is what’s standard on the Bronco now. Most notably, the gauge cluster is now the 12-inch digital unit from the 2024 Bronco Raptor. The four-door Broncos also now get standard rear-seat air vents, something Ford says customers have been clamoring for. All Broncos get additional interior lighting and more sound insulation, which should make for quieter environments when it’s all zipped up and the hard top’s on.

As for options, when you specify the Sasquatch Package, which is the Bronco’s neat off-road package that can be added to any of the various trims, you’ll now get 35-inch Goodyear Territory off-road tires which Ford says are quieter than the previous mud-terrain tires at highway speeds. Additionally, the previously optional 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system now grows to a 12-speaker unit with upgraded speakers, a new subwoofer and a more powerful amplifier.

Ordering for the new 2025 Bronco starts today on Ford’s website, with deliveries expected to begin come winter.
