our expert's take

What Is the 2022 Dodge Durango?

The Dodge Durango three-row SUV seats up to seven and competes with the Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Pilot and Kia Telluride. Unlike many of its rivals, the Durango can be something of a high-riding muscle car thanks to its optional V-8 engines. These range from a 360-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8 to a 475-hp, 6.4-liter V-8 in the SRT 392 trim level. A 293-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 engine is standard.

The Durango has 21.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second row and 9.4 cubic feet behind its third row, according to Cars.com’s cargo measurements. You can see how it scored in our Car Seat Check here.

What’s New on the 2022 Dodge Durango?

New standard features include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rear parking sensors, and blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.

What Features in the 2022 Dodge Durango Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Tri-zone automatic air conditioning
  • 4-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity
  • Satellite radio

Available features include:

  • All-wheel drive
  • Power moonroof
  • Remote start
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated second-row seats
  • Second-row captain’s chairs
  • 1-inch touchscreen with navigation
  • Alpine or Harman Kardon premium stereo
  • Wireless device charging
  • Dual-screen rear entertainment system
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane departure warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Load-leveling rear suspension

Should I Buy the 2022 Dodge Durango?

The Durango offers plenty of stretch-out space in its first and second rows, as well as an intuitive multimedia system. Some rivals feel more agile and easier to maneuver, but Dodge’s available V-8 engines — particularly the 6.4-liter V-8 — deliver plenty of power. The SUV can tow as much as 8,700 pounds when properly equipped. Those V-8s are thirsty, however, and we wish Dodge made more of the Durango’s optional active safety features standard.

I drove a durango GT for 300 miles its not bad the 3.

I drove a durango GT for 300 miles its not bad the 3.6 V6 is plenty powerful and 30mpg but no hemi theatre. Interior is xxxx near luxurious and the ride is very good. A lot of reliability issues seem to stem from going long on oil changes and driving the car like it's a rental car aka the average dodge driver. If you keep up on the maintenance, this is a genuinely enjoyable car that does almost everything decently well.
