What Is the 2023 BMW X4?

The BMW X4 is a five-seat luxury compact SUV with coupelike styling and four doors. Power comes from a standard 248-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while the M40i gets a 382-hp, turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that recaptures brake energy. The high-performance X4 M and X4 M Competition get a turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder that’s rated at 473 hp in the standard M and 503 hp in the Competition version. Every engine works with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard. Competitors include the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

What’s New on the 2023 BMW X4?

Following a refresh for 2022, the X4 sees only minor revisions this year, including the removal of infotainment system Gesture Control from an available Premium Package.

What Features in the 2023 BMW X4 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Power liftgate
  • Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
  • Navigation with 12.3-inch touchscreen
  • Digital instrument panel

Available features include:

  • Heated steering wheel
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Wireless device charging
  • Wi-Fi hot spot (data subscription required after trial)
  • Harman Kardon surround-sound system
  • Head-up display
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Adaptive suspension
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability
  • Lane departure steering assist

Should I Buy the 2023 BMW X4?

If you’re looking for a sporty alternative to a traditional luxury compact SUV, the X4 is worth a look thanks to its strong available engines and athletic handling. You pay a lot for it, however, and get less utility in return considering the chunk of space the raked roofline takes out of the cargo area.

Excessive wind noise through driver side window

My particular BMW X4 xDrive 330i 2023, too much wind noise coming through the drivers side window had an engineer look at it from BMW States this is the way the car is built. But on Facebook there are a lot of individuals who are having the same issue that I am. So in my opinion there is and should be a recall to fix this but there's not when you going down the road at 70 mph you cannot even carry on a conversation the wind is so bad coming through driver side window. you don't feel the air it's the sound when there's cross winds Outdoors forget about it. Strange thing about this is why are some of us having this issue and some of us aren't. On BMW X4 in the USA on Facebook you'll see the complaints. A lot of people had to have the sunroof seal removed and replace it with a new one that seem to have worked on some of the cars. my dealership stated he contacted the engineer Department to see if they would replace mine on my brand new car of course I have yet to hear back from anyone regarding this issue. Beware drive it going around 70 mph to make sure you not having this issue before you purchase.

X4 M40i feels “Just Right”!

1 week ago traded my 2020 BMW X3M for the 2023 X4 M40i. Now I’ll be able to drive the car all year round! Living in NH my X3M was in a garage from Nov - March :-( Yes the X4 M40i isn’t as quick, but close. It does have better styling, more sporty looking and a much smoother drive, X3M was a very aggressive drive which didn’t bother me…much! Overall this feels “just right”!
