What Is the 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge?
The Volvo C40 Recharge is an all-electric small luxury SUV that’s essentially a sportier-looking but much less practical take on the brand’s XC40 Recharge. The C40 has a tapered roofline that compromises not just rear visibility, but also passenger space in the backseat. Not helping matters is its driving range of just 226 miles, which is bettered by a number of EVs that cost less. On the plus side, the C40 Recharge’s ride is comfortable, and it has a number of standard active-safety features, including blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert and road-sign recognition. Competing electric SUVs include the Audi Q4 e-Tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Jaguar I-Pace and Kia EV6.

Should I Buy the 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge?
If you’re smitten by the style of the Volvo C40 Recharge and can live with its modest driving range and limited practicality, it’s your money to spend. But there are better EVs available, including Volvo’s own XC40 Recharge, which holds an edge in terms of cabin space, cargo volume and pricing. Volvo has a strong reputation for building eminently smart and sensible vehicles, but the C40 Recharge might be too much frosting and not enough cake.
