I bought this car used in 2017 and it was great until about 2019 when I had to replace the MAP because it was reading out of range. Then, less than three months later I had to replace the new one, and then another six months and the same code was back. I started to research it and it turns out the ECM was not programmed properly for the gasoline 2.5 I-5. I looked into getting it reprogrammed by VW and they wanted over $800 to reprogram it. By the time I figured this out I also found that it didn't actually fix the problem according to several threads on VW forums. Now it is sitting 170 miles from home because the TCM completely fried out and in my research it turns out the MAP sensor issue causes it. If you are looking at one now in 2025 you are most likely inheriting a litany of issues that have just had a bandaid slapped on them to get it to sell. When it works it is great, the interior is deceptively roomie, it has surprising about of get up and go and amazing handling, when it doesn't work you are looking at at least $2000 or more in repairs unless you have all of the tools (specialized one included) to take the car apart, and the space to do it and even then it will be at least $1000 in parts if you are lucky. Definitely skip this one if you are looking at the gasoline model.
