2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI consumer reviews

Speaking as a former BMW owner, this is the most fun car I've ever owned. It has more than enough torque and power for a daily driver, and the handling never fails to put a smile on my face. You can throw it into a corner without any nary a thought of oversteer and come out of the corner looking like a hero (especially with the rev-matching DSG). I also appreciate all the little hidden features such as the hooks in the trunk for hanging grocery bags, the space under the trunk floor to store the privacy cover, the wine caddies along the side (at least, that's what I've been using them for), the felt-lined door caddies that fit water bottles, the wipers that automatically shift positions to help the blades last longer, and the list goes on. There is so much attention to detail, and the fit and finish feels better than the BMW's I've owned. Yes, a few of the plastics are hard-touch, but they're part of what make this car such a great value for money. I'd gladly trade some soft-touch plastics (that peel in the sun anyway) for this engine and handling. The only car I've ever owned that was as fun to drive was an S2000 AP2, but this car is much more wife-friendly. I often take auto-journalists opinions with a grain of salt. In this case, however, they're right.

Bought this car on a whim. Absolutely love it! It?s sporty, comfortable, safe, and reliable. It has a great design and wonderful features that come standard. So happy it?s a stick shift, has a turbo that accommodates regular gas, has great get up and go, and has PLAID HEATED SEATS!!! It handles like a dream, gets awesome gas mileage, and has amazing technology.

We bought this and a golf alltrak at the same time, although the alltrak is bigger and more comfortable, our 3 year old prefers this car and almost always insists that we take it when we go all together. I also really enjoy the blend of practicality and fun. It's fast enough and handles well enough to be great fun, but it rides quietly on the highway, gets very good milage (better than EPA ratings on long drives) and you can fit a lot of stuff under the hatch. Overall, if you like driving and have a family, and don't want to spend a fortune on a car, this one seems like the bet bet to me.

Ive always wanted to own one of these and now that I do i couldnt be happier. Its an insanely fun car to drive and extremely practical to take to work every day. Great space in the trunk, reliable, good on gas consumption, and a joy to drive every day.

Fun car to drive, moves quickly and handles well. It rides a bit stiff, but thats a given since its a performance car, but aside from that its a great car to drive or have fun in

It is a fantastic car; faster than my Jetta GLI, more practical with the hatch. The styling is gorgeous, both interior and exterior(lighting package makes the front so much better looking). If you?re thinking of getting one, do it!

Tons of room and solid performance. Very comfortable for long trips. Handles and brakes excellent with the performance pack. Car is definitely underrated for power.
