Previously known as the Scion iA, then the Toyota Yaris iA, Toyota’s subcompact car is now the Yaris Sedan. Based on the Mazda2 (which is no longer sold in the U.S.), the five-seat Yaris Sedan is powered by a 106-horsepower, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that works with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Competitors include the Nissan Versa, Kia Rio and Chevrolet Sonic.

A new top-of-the-line XLE trim includes simulated leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic air conditioning, automatic LED headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
