Expert 2025 Tesla Cybertruck review

Our expert's take

tesla cybertruck exterior oem 04 jpg

Ever since Tesla announced the Cybertruck, it’s been promising a single-motor rear-wheel-drive base variant. It was initially promised for less than $40,000, which then ballooned to $60,000. Now, it’s finally here — after one more big price jump: The Tesla Cybertruck Long Range stickers at $71,985 (price includes $1,995 destination charge) and is on sale now.

What Are the Cybertruck Long Range’s Performance Specs?

The rear-drive version does indeed coax more from its pack than its all-wheel-drive siblings can. Tesla estimates the new model’s range at 350 miles (or 362 with the available soft tonneau cover in place, smoothing the truck’s polygonal aerodynamic profile), 25 miles more than the AWD Cybertruck and 49 more than the Cyberbeast.

Tesla also claims the rear-driver will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds versus 4.1 for the AWD truck and 2.6 for the Cyberbeast. The Long Range is rated to tow 7,500 pounds (the AWD trucks can pull up to 11,000) and haul up to 2,006 pounds in the bed; the AWD truck is rated at 2,500 pounds.

What Are the Cybertruck Long Range’s Features?

Priced $10,000 less than the AWD Cybertruck, the Long Range forfeits the latter’s height-adjustable suspension, premium interior materials, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, second-row touchscreen, 120- and 240-volt cab and bed outlets, and 15-speaker sound system. Instead, it gets adaptive dampers, cloth seats (heated in front), a heated steering wheel, the 18.5-inch touchscreen and seven speakers. The Long Range also makes do with downgraded exterior lighting. As with other Cybertrucks, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is available as an option; forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors and lane-departure prevention are standard.
