What it is: The Crosstrek is Subaru's smallest crossover, a five-seat model based on the previous-generation Impreza hatchback. Last year, it was available in gasoline-powered and hybrid form, but the hybrid has been dropped for 2017. All models come with standard all-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

A Special Edition package for the Premium model is available with red or black exterior paint and includes 17-inch dark-gray alloy wheels, gloss-black interior accents, red stitching, red accent lighting and aluminum pedals. Keyless access with push-button start, satellite radio and a blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert are standard.

I liked this car before the problems

I had this car for the first year at 44k the catalytic converter went out. Subaru replaced at no charge. Then two years later at 90k the catalytic converter needs to be replaced again and also needs engine work already . I don’t drive it much so I’m shocked

Reliable, fun, and slow

We bought this car back in 2016, a 2017 model. Just traded it in on a 2020 Outback XT in January 2020 when it had 50,000km. It was decently comfortable but the seats were fairly firm and on long trips I would get a little sore (Alberta Canada to Southern California). It is very slow, not completely unbearably slow, but it is very slow. On the bright side, it gets great gas mileage for an AWD compact suv. Another thing to note is over the 50,000km we didn't have to take it in for any sort of mechanical issues at all. Just oil changes and standard maintanence. Obviously I don't know how it would do down the line, but judging by the few issues it gave us I'm sure it would be a very reliable vehicle in the long term.
