Polestar, Volvo’s electric subsidiary, made big changes to its 2 hatchback for 2024; all variants received more power, single-motor 2s transitioned from front- to rear-wheel drive and larger battery packs stretched range beyond 300 miles on a charge. For the 2025 model year, Polestar is tweaking the model further, with more options and packages, slightly more range (maybe), and new color and wheel choices.

Powertrain Specs and Range
The single-motor Polestar 2 drives its rear wheels with an electric motor generating up to 299 horsepower, and the dual-motor version adds a motor on the front axle for all-wheel drive and up to 476 combined horsepower. Polestar didn’t specify what changes increase the range, but they are slight. The company claims an increase of around 2.5 miles as measured by the system used for rating range in Europe, which will likely register a lesser increase on the EPA range-testing cycle used in the U.S.
Shades of Gray
Visual upgrades to the 2025 Polestar 2 will require a sharp eye to spot. Two new paint options, Vapour and Storm, are differently gray than Magnesium and Thunder, which they replace. There are also new designs for the available 19- and 20-inch wheels. Inside, black Nappa leather is available but is said to be “animal welfare-secured.”
New Option Packages
The new Climate Pack bundles a heat pump (for more efficient cabin climate control), heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and heated windshield-washer fluid nozzles. The Pro Pack is also new for 2025 and includes 20-inch wheels and Swedish Gold trim on the seatbelts and tire valve-stem caps.
Otherwise, the Polestar 2’s other option packages carry over unchanged for 2025. The Pilot Pack includes LED foglights, adaptive cruise control and lane-centering steering, and the Plus Pack adds a panoramic moonroof and a Harman Kardon audio system. Buyers spec’ing both of those on the dual-motor 2 can also add the Performance Pack, which bumps output to 455 hp and includes a unique suspension tune with Ohlins dampers and Brembo brakes.
