CVT is a money pit waiting to happen

Got the lancer for just over $8k 5 months ago. Getting ready to put $5k into replacing the transmissio. All in all: comfortable car with great gas milage that was perfect for my commute. After the transmission went out, I came to find out that it is SO bad that Nissan (who actually makes the transmission) has had class action lawsuits against them due to how bad they are. It's a great little car with a time b0mb for a transmission. Given that 80k miles is the expected lifetime for a CVT, I'll have to replace it twice by the time I've paid the car off.

Reliable and cheap

It’s great I love it. It was very affordable and not to mention I haven’t had a single problem at 81,000 miles. Hopefully it stays that way I hear the weak point is it’s Nissan CVT transmission but I change the fluid for it every 20,000 miles and no problem for me.
