Our expert's take

Few vehicle families today are more diverse than the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. Available in traditional SUV and fastback “coupe” SUV body styles, it can be had with mild or plug-in hybrid assist and four, six or eight cylinders putting out anywhere from 255 to 603 horsepower. Pricing for the GLE is just as expansive, with base prices ranging from $63,000 to $131,950.

2024 was a busy year for the GLE, with a refresh bringing updated exterior and interior styling and a new PHEV powertrain. For 2025, Mercedes adds one more derivative to the mix, the rear-wheel-drive GLE350, which drops the model line’s base price $800 from last year, to $63,000 even.

How Much Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is on sale now. Full line pricing, including the $1,150 destination fee, is as follows:

  • GLE350 (RWD): $63,000
  • GLE350: $65,500
  • GLE450: $72,500
  • GLE450e: $72,500
  • GLE580: $90,350
  • AMG GLE53: $90,350
  • AMG GLE63 S: $131,950

GLE Trim Levels

Mercedes has a well-earned reputation for safety, and the GLE upholds it with standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, front cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitors, a driver attention monitor, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a 360-degree parking camera, automated parking and safe-exit assist.

The entry-level GLE350 also features 19-inch wheels, LED head- and taillights, a moonroof, a power liftgate, keyless entry and starting, and remote start. It’s upholstered in synthetic leather and has power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In addition to all-wheel drive, 4Matic GLEs also get adaptive dampers and off-road driving modes with a “transparent hood” camera view that shows the driver what is directly ahead of the vehicle, below their line of sight. The plug-in 450e is equipped the same as the 350s, but the V-8 GLE580 upgrades to 20-inch wheels, a height-adjustable air suspension, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, augmented-reality navigation and a 13-speaker Burmester audio system.

No mere overpowered hot rods, the AMG GLE53 and 63 S boast a sport-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, a tweaked AWD system that can send up to 100% of the engine’s output to the rear wheels (the “+” in “4Matic+”) and 22-inch wheels. The six-cylinder GLE53 also features a panoramic moonroof and Nappa leather upholstery, while the 63 S adds massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel and a head-up display.

GLE Power and MPG

The GLE’s overwhelming menu of engine options are all equipped with mild-hybrid assistance and backed by a nine-speed automatic transmission. The list starts with the GLE350’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which generates 255 hp and 295 pounds-feet of torque. The RWD 350 returns an EPA-rated 21/28/23 mpg city/highway/combined, and the AWD GLE350 4Matic is rated at 19/26/22.

Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic AWD is standard on the rest of the GLE lineup. The plug-in-hybrid 450e pairs the 350’s turbocharged 2.0-liter with a beefier electric motor and a 23.3-kilowatt-hour battery for total output of 381 hp and 479 pounds-feet. It has a 50-mile electric range and is rated at 23 mpg combined with the gas engine running.

From there, Mercedes gives buyers their choice of turbocharged inline-six and V-8 engines in standard M-B and aggro AMG flavors. The 3.0-liter six-cylinder in the GLE450 generates 375 hp and 369 pounds-feet, while its counterpart in the AMG GLE53 produces 429 hp and 413 pounds-feet. The 450 is rated at 19/25/21 mpg city/highway/combined, while the AMG 53 returns 18/23/20 mpg.

V-8 buyers get a twin-turbo 4.0-liter that cranks out 510 hp and 538 pounds-feet in the GLE580 and a stout 603 hp and 627 pounds-feet in the AMG GLE63 S 4Matic+. The 580 returns 15/20/17 mpg, while the AMG 63 burns through a gallon of premium every 14 miles in the city, 19 on the highway and 16 combined.
