What Is the 2023 Hyundai Tucson?

The 2023 Hyundai Tucson is a five-seat compact SUV that competes with the likes of the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage. Powering the base Tucson is an efficient 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder that’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel drive are available. If electrification is your thing, consider the fuel-sipping hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. Each delivers a significant boost in mpg, and the Tucson PHEV has the added bonus of 32 miles of electric-only driving range. Both hybrids are also notably peppier than the regular gas-engine Tucson: They’re powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder powertrain that helps make 226 hp combined in the hybrid and 261 hp combined in the plug-in hybrid.

What’s New on the 2023 Hyundai Tucson?

Save some reshuffling of features among trim levels, the Hyundai Tucson is a carryover model that enters the 2023 model year with no major changes.

What Features in the 2023 Hyundai Tucson Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 8-inch touchscreen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind spot warning system
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Driver drowsiness monitor
  • Bluetooth
  • Two USB ports
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Lane-centering steering system
  • Lane departure warning

Available features include:

  • 25-inch infotainment screen
  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Leather seating surfaces
  • Hands-free power liftgate
  • Satellite radio
  • Surround-view parking camera
  • Roof rack
  • Heated front seats
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Digital gauge cluster
  • Wireless device charging

Should I Buy the 2023 Hyundai Tucson?

Big on value and generous when it comes to standard comfort and safety features, the Tucson is best enjoyed in its lower trims. Scaling to pricier trims means dealing with frustrating touch-sensitive controls and the loss of wireless smartphone connectivity (though that also means a larger 10.25-inch screen). The hybrid and PHEV variants are compelling options for anyone who wants the passenger space and cargo volume of an SUV but prefers to make fewer visits to gas stations.

This is my 4th Hyundai and I buy them for the warranty.

This is my 4th Hyundai and I buy them for the warranty. I even received a new engine in my last Hyundai on warranty at 120,000 miles. I do appreciate that Hyundai honors their warranties. I have had good luck for the most part with all Hyundais and love the comfort, amenities and sporty look of the Tuscon. My only concern is that at 1.5 years and with 30,000 miles I had to have the oil pan replaced but again thanks to the Hyundai warranty no cost.

I purchased my vehicle slightly used and I LOVE it!

I purchased my vehicle slightly used and I LOVE it!! It's very comfortable and sleek. Car and driver and Edmundson speak poorly of it's power, stating the vehicle is sluggish, but I strongly disagree. My car has plenty of get up and go for 4 cylinder
