hyundai elantra 2024 exterior oem 14 jpg

Competes with: Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla

Looks like: The current Elantra with a fresh face and more body creases

Powertrains: 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine; 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine paired with a battery pack (hybrid); turbocharged 1.6-liter engine (N Line); turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (N); front-wheel drive

Hits dealerships: Fall 2023

Last redesigned for 2021, Hyundai’s compact sedan is getting some updates for the new model year that add both style and safety. The 2024 Elantra gets revised styling, additional safety features and some cabin upgrades, and the sporty-ish Elantra N Line and performance-oriented Elantra N variants also get some feature and styling updates.

New Face, New Tech

Outside, the Elantra gets a fresh face highlighted by redesigned LED daytime running lights; a new two-piece grille with a body-colored center element; a flat stainless-steel Hyundai emblem; redesigned front fenders; and an updated rear diffuser with a wide, U-shaped silver element. New wheel designs and additional exterior colors — including Ecotronic Gray, Ultimate Red and Amazon Gray — round out the changes.

Interior changes include updated cabin materials and more creature comforts, such as new soft-touch front door panels, a revised instrument cluster design, a redesigned wireless charging pad and additional USB ports; two USB-C ports have been added in back and one in front. In addition, the larger 10.25-inch infotainment system is now standard on SEL trims and above, and Limited trims get new synthetic leather seats and an eight-speaker Bose Premium Audio system standard. Lastly, the Elantra also now offers a Wi-Fi hot spot.

Several safety and driver-assistance features also join the lineup for 2024. Newly standard are rear side airbags and a rear seatbelt reminder, and haptic feedback through the steering wheel has been added to the lane departure steering assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert systems. In addition, the 360-degree camera system, blind spot monitor and front and rear parking sensors are now standard on the Limited trim.

The Elantra’s powertrain choices carryover: A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is standard,  and the Elantra Hybrid uses a gas-electric hybrid drivetrain.

N Line Returns

For 2024, the lightly sporty Elantra N Line returns. In addition to the updates above, the N Line gets a new available paint color for 2024: Exotic Green. It also gets the standard eight-speaker Bose Premium Audio system.

Its powertrain carries over, as well. The N Line will continue to use a turbocharged, 1.6-liter four-cylinder; the manual transmission was canceled last year.

Performance Updates for the N

Outside, the Elantra N wears a revised grille along with new side sills, a rear wing, dual exhaust, and 19-inch forged-alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires; a new color, Ultimate Red, is available. Inside, the N features a revised steering wheel and shift knob design, as well as new sport bucket seats with an illuminated logo.

The sport-oriented N variant also gets a variety of performance enhancements for 2024, including a reinforced engine mount membrane to improve after shake and agility, as well as suspension, steering and chassis updates for improved control and precision, according to the brand. Hyundai also said it increased the N’s tire pressure to optimize front-axle load increase while maintaining front-to-rear ride and handling balance.

The N’s powertrain also carries over for 2024. It will continue to use the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder.

Pricing and Availability

There’s no word yet on pricing for the refreshed sedan. The 2024 Elantra goes on sale this fall.

Would recommend this car 100 percent to anyone looking for a mid-sized sedan. The only thing that could be changed is a little bit more headroom and I wish my car sat up higher similar to the way an SUV like a Tucson does.
