our expert's take

What Is the 2023 GMC Yukon?

The GMC Yukon is a full-size three-row SUV available in regular- and extended-length form (called XL). Engine choices include a pair of gas V-8s, as well as a turbo-diesel inline-six. All engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are offered.

The Yukon and Yukon XL are related to the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, respectively, and Yukon competitors include the Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia. The AT4 trim offers standard and available features aimed at improved off-road capability. Denali trims offer a higher level of luxury — with a price tag to match: The new range-topping Denali Ultimate has a more expensive starting price than some trim levels of the Cadillac Escalade. The Yukon offers 30.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second row and 12.9 cubic feet behind its third row, according to Cars.com’s cargo measurements. You can see how it scored in our Car Seat Check here.

Whats New on the 2023 GMC Yukon?

The Denali Ultimate debuts as the most opulent Yukon to date, with standard luxury features like upgraded leather upholstery and interior trim, massaging front seats and an 18-speaker Bose audio system. Though its availability is limited, GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assist is standard on the Denali Ultimate and included in an Advanced Technology Package on the Denali.

What Features in the 2023 GMC Yukon Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 18-inch aluminum wheels

Should I Buy the 2023 GMC Yukon?

The Yukon is a refined full-size SUV with a versatile and comfortable interior. The available 6.2-liter V-8 engine is a powerful performer, and this big SUV rides well. The Denali and Denali Ultimate are expensive, but they offer a higher level of luxury and truly distinctive trim inside and out. With the exception of the Denali Ultimate, the related Tahoe and Suburban are a little less expensive, but not by much.

2023 GMC Yukon with 2200 miles left me stranded

Purchased 2023 Yukin SLT 1/2023. With 2200 miles in 4/2023 was driving in Georgia on way to Florida. Stabilitrack and Svc Transmission lights come on while on I-95 Dangerous situation. Limped to local GMC dealer. ECM was bad. Car would not go in park, change gears. Also had rattle from day 1. Quality with GM cars gets worse and worse. And I have owned 26 GM vehicles.
