After introducing the GV60 electric SUV for the 2023 model year, Genesis has big news for 2024: A new rear-wheel-drive model joins the lineup, dropping the base price more than $7,000 from 2023. The 2024 model year also brings standard seat belt pretensioners to the Advanced variant, as well as a virtual gear shift and the Genesis Digital Key 2 as standard equipment for the Performance trim. All GV60s also now get 10 more airbags and a Wi-Fi hot spot.

Powertrain Specs, Range and Charge Time

Using the same 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack as the twin-motor GV60s, the new Standard rear-drive trim has a motor that makes 225 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque; the powerplant stretches range to 294 miles, according to Genesis.

The all-wheel-drive Advanced trim level’s front and rear motors combine for a total of 314 hp and 446 pounds-feet, and the range-topping AWD Performance manages 429 hp and 516 pounds-feet with a Boost mode unlocking 483 hp for up to 10 seconds at a time. The Advanced can travel up to an EPA-rated 248 miles on a charge, while the Performance will drain its batteries in 235 miles. A 250-kilowatt DC fast charger can juice all three variants from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

Standard and Available Safety Features

All GV60s come with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assist systems, including forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind spot collision avoidance assist, lane-centering steering, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, and front and rear parking sensors. A 360-degree camera system, reverse automatic emergency braking, and blind spot cameras that feed a display in the instrument cluster are included on the Advanced and Performance trims.

Trim Levels and Pricing

The 2024 Genesis GV60 is on sale now. Full line pricing (including $1,195 destination fee) is as follows:

  • Standard: $53,195
  • Advanced: $61,745
  • Performance: $70,745

Other than the added power (and wet-weather stability), the RWD Standard doesn’t give up much in exchange for its increased range. Standard equipment includes 19-inch wheels, LED exterior lighting, a panoramic moonroof, keyless entry and starting, synthetic leather and real aluminum trim, power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Advanced adds leather seating, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a Bang & Olufsen audio system, plus the extra safety features. At the top of the line, the Performance trim level includes 21-inch wheels, Nappa leather seats, a synthetic suede headliner, Ergo Motion massaging driver’s seat and heated rear seats.

More From Cars.com:

Versus the Competition

The South Koreans have established a solid foothold in the electric SUV category, and some of the GV60’s stiffest competition is in-house: Hyundai’s excellent Ioniq 5 shares much of its architecture with the GV60 and starts at $42,985 for 2024, while Kia’s version of the platform, 2024 EV6, is priced from $43,925. Ford’s 2023 Mustang Mach-E bases at $44,795.
