What Is the 2023 Genesis G70?

The Genesis G70 is a luxury compact sedan that comes standard with a 252-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic transmission. A 365-hp, twin-turbo V-6 is optional and fitted with the same gearbox; Genesis dropped the manual transmission from the G70 lineup for the 2022 model year. Both powertrains can be had with rear- or all-wheel drive. Competitors include the Acura Integra, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS

What’s New on the 2023 Genesis G70?

Since it received a substantial refresh for 2022, the G70 receives only minor equipment and package updates for 2023.

What Features in the 2023 Genesis G70 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 10.25-inch touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Blind spot warning system
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Heated front seats
  • Satellite radio
  • Four USB ports
  • LED headlights
  • Safe exit warning
  • Navigation
  • Hands-free power trunk lid

Available features include:

  • Surround-view parking camera
  • Limited-slip differential
  • All-wheel drive
  • Head-up instrument display
  • Wireless device charging
  • 15-speaker audio system
  • Brembo brakes
  • Adaptive suspension
  • Heated steering wheel

Should I Buy the 2023 Genesis G70?

The Genesis G70 is entertaining to drive and refined enough to take the sting out of long trips or an arduous commute. A wide roster of standard safety and convenience features means you won’t quickly inflate the price with expensive options. All-wheel drive is attractive to luxury sedan shoppers who want the peace of mind that comes with all-weather grip, and the twin-turbo V-6 greatly increases performance. A smallish trunk and thirst for fuel, especially with the V-6, are the only big blemishes on the G70’s resume.

Coming out of a 2003 vehicle (Jaguar X-type) & getting

Coming out of a 2003 vehicle (Jaguar X-type) & getting behind the wheel of a 2023 model was a startling transition. Even though my CPO G70 is a base model (2.0T/AWD) it’s like piloting a space craft! I love this car! And with all of the safety & convenience features, it feels like it cares for me as well. The performance, ride & handling are exemplary. In the spirit of complete transparency, here are a few nits. - The gas mileage isn’t class leading & requiring premium gas adds to the cost of operation. Solution? Tame your right foot! Acceleration is quite lively. - The rear seats are tight for large people & the trunk space is merely adequate (a pass-through rear center seat is quite helpful). But keep in mind, this the smallest model in the lineup. If you need more space, there’s the G80. - Finally, I’m still sorting out some of the infotainment features (which didn’t exist in 2003!). Let me finish by praising the service departments. Without question the best experience I’ve had, up there with M-B & exceeding Jaguar.

G70 Sport

I just bought my G70 after looking at many different makes and models. I bought mine at the Monmouth Junction Genesis dealer. Fred Corea was extremely helpful and helped me to decide to drive home with one that day. My car drives great and really opens up on the highway when I have it in Sports mode. The interior is the second thing that sold me on the car. Lots of attention to detail and plenty of toys/tech to enjoy. It takes a while to get used to all of the tech, but I'm getting there. The car gets lots of looks and many people have no idea what it is even after I tell them. Go have a test drive.
