What Is the 2019 Fiat 124 Spider?

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles teamed up with Japanese automaker Mazda to add a little spice to the Fiat brand's lineup in the form of the 124 Spider roadster, which is related to Mazda's MX-5 Miata. The two-seat 124 Spider comes with a manual-folding soft-top, rear-wheel drive and a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine.

What’s New on the 2019 Fiat 124 Spider?

A backup camera and the Fiat Connect 7.0 multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen are now standard. An available Veleno Appearance Group for Abarth trim levels includes red exterior accents and Abarth floormats. Abarth models can also have a Record Monza exhaust system.

What Features in the 2019 Fiat 124 Spider Are Most Important?

All models can have a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and the top-line Abarth version gets a slight performance boost with 164 horsepower (4 hp more than the other trims) and a tighter suspension. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity aren’t offered, however. Blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors are available for Lusso and Abarth trims.

Should I Buy the 2019 Fiat 124 Spider?

Though the 124 Spider is similar to the Mazda MX-5 Miata, its engine produces greater torque (184 pounds-feet versus the 2019 Miata's 151 pounds-feet), making it easier to drive in low-speed, stop-and-go city conditions. Otherwise, they offer a similarly enjoyable driving experience that can make even daily commuting seem like fun. For those who like to shift for themselves, the 124 Spider's manual transmission is light, precise and a delight to use.

As reliable as my Honda S2000, just not as fast

Three years of ownership and My Luso version is comfortable, fun to drive, A real keeper. Add a custon exhaust, with great sound. Not as loud as the Abarth but jst right.
