chevrolet traverse 2024 exterior oem 03 jpg

After a redesign for the 2024 model year that gave it a bold look to better align with Chevrolet’s truck-based Tahoe, the Traverse takes another step toward the brand’s full-frame family for 2025. A new High Country trim level like the one that caps off the Tahoe, Suburban and Silverado SUVs is now available for the full-size Traverse SUV.

The Traverse High Country slots between the off-road-oriented Z71 and the sporty-looking RS trim and enjoys comfort and convenience touches, such as leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated outboard second-row seats and a 10-speaker Bose audio system. In addition, a new Sun and Wheel Package is available for 2025, and the Trailering Package is now standard on the LT.

Last year’s entry-level LS trim drops from the roster, bumping the base price for the 2025 Traverse up $3,000 from 2024, although the remaining trim levels only increase $600 for the LT and $1,200 for the Z71 and RS.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The Traverse is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 328 horsepower and 326 pounds-feet of torque; it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is a $2,000 option on most trim levels, but it’s standard on the Z71. With FWD, the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse returns an EPA-rated 20/27/23 mpg city/highway/combined; AWD versions are rated at 19/24/21 mpg.

Availability and Pricing

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse is on sale now. Full line pricing, including the $1,395 destination fee, is as follows:

  • LT: $41,995
  • Z71: $48,995
  • High Country: $54,995
  • RS: $56,795

Safety Features and Trim Levels

Every 2025 Traverse is fitted with an impressive array of modern safety tech. Standard features include forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure steering assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, forward cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors. GM’s Safety Alert Seat (which vibrates sides of the driver’s bottom cushion to alert them to potential hazards) and Teen Driver (which allows owners to restrict certain systems when a particular key fob is used to start the vehicle) are also standard.

The base LT trim level is well equipped with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a hands-free power liftgate, keyless entry and starting, and remote start. It’s upholstered with cloth and features a power-adjustable driver’s seat, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, six speakers and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster. A 17.7-inch touchscreen is also standard and includes Google Built-In, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In addition to standard AWD, the Z71 rides about one inch higher than other Traverses and features black 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, black exterior trim, red tow hooks and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Z71 is upholstered with synthetic leather.

The High Country includes the standard equipment listed above, plus 22-inch wheels, windshield-wiper de-icers, LED taillights, automated parking, a 360-degree parking camera and road-sign recognition. GM’s hands-free Super Cruise semi-autonomous highway driving system is standard (it’s available on every Traverse). The new trim level’s cabin is spruced up with perforated leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable front-passenger seat, heated second-row captain’s chairs, ambient lighting and a 10-speaker Bose audio system.

What the High Country really does for the Traverse is provide a way for buyers to get all of the available luxury and tech features without black exterior trim. The range-topping RS trim level includes all of the High Country’s content and packages it with black 22-inch wheels and exterior accents.

A deceptively large vehicle.

A deceptively large vehicle. Great third row legroom when needed, even for adults. The vehicle is full of technology, particularly on the top model that I am lucky enough to have. The large four cylinder turbo engine is plenty powerful enough for any trips.
