Expert 2019 Chevrolet Camaro review

What Is the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro?

The Camaro is Chevrolet's answer to the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger: a rear-wheel-drive, four-seat coupe or convertible that offers several high-performance variants. Engine choices includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 275 horsepower; a 335-hp, 3.6-liter V-6; a 455-hp, 6.2-liter V-8; or a 650-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. All engines come with a standard six-speed manual transmission. A 10-speed automatic is optional for the V-8s, and an eight-speed automatic is available for the others.

What's New on the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro?

All trim levels except the ZL1 have new front styling and lighting. All versions get a new rear look with updated taillamps. A new multimedia system comes with a 7- or 8-inch touchscreen, depending on the model. A new Turbo 1LE Package with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual has Camaro SS suspension components, 20-inch wheels and a nearly 50:50, front-to-rear, weight distribution. A 10-speed automatic replaces an eight-speed automatic as the SS' optional transmission. Forward collision warning and a high-definition rearview camera mirror are available.

What Features in the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro Are Most Important?

With performance and styling the Camaro's main attractions, the range of engines and the choice of a manual or automatic transmission are plusses. The Camaro also has handling and braking capability to match its acceleration.

Should I Buy the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro?

Sure, if performance and sleek styling are far more important than fuel economy, passenger room and cargo space (and just about every other practical consideration). The Camaro has plenty of attributes to satisfy enthusiasts, but unless you're a died-in-the-wool Chevy loyalist, check out the Ford Mustang for comparison. Ford and Chevy are trying to outdo each other with these cars, and picking a winner may come down to brand preference or styling.

Only a week in and best bang for the buck car.

2019 Camaro SS 1LE M6 is the best bang for the buck so far in my short time owning it. For being considered a "heavy" car, it is incredibly nimble and racy. Smooth when desired. (Notice I flipped those driving preferences!!!) Not a ton of space inside but the car is not meant to be a family daily driver. Although at first the car felt hard to see out of it, really is not that bad at all when you get used to the sight lines. Great fun!

WHAT A BEAST ... awesome machine

I can't say enough about this vehicle. It so much fun to drive. If you're looking for a fast and fun car, try test driving one. It's plenty fast, and there isn't really any reason to buy the next stage up.
