What Is the 2023 BMW X5?

The BMW X5 mid-size luxury SUV seats five or seven, depending on configuration. It’s available with rear- or all-wheel drive and is powered by a standard 335-horsepower, turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine. There’s also a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 that makes 523 hp in the M50i and 600 or 617 hp in the X5 M. A plug-in hybrid variant is also available. All versions have an eight-speed automatic transmission, and competitors include the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

What’s New on the 2023 BMW X5?

The X5 sees a slight reshuffling of features and the discontinuation of optional Gesture Control for the infotainment system.

What Features in the 2023 BMW X5 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Digital instrument panel
  • 3-inch multimedia screen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity
  • Navigation
  • Panoramic moonroof
  • 40/20/40-split second-row seat
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot warning
  • Lane departure warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

Available features include:

  • Remote start
  • Head-up display
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Low-speed hands-free driving system
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Heated front and second-row seats
  • Ventilated and massaging front seats

Should I Buy the 2023 BMW X5?

With plenty of packages to choose from, the X5 is a luxurious, comfortable and quick luxury SUV. Some of its active safety systems, however, can be too sensitive, and while the third-row seat is handy, it’s best left to kids.
