What Is the 2023 BMW X3?

The BMW X3 is a five-seat luxury compact SUV that’s offered with a range of engine choices: The sDrive30i and xDrive30i are powered by a 248-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, while the M40i gets a 382-hp, turbo 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The high-performance X3 M, meanwhile, boasts track-focused features and has a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 473 hp (X3 M) or 503 hp (X3 M Competition). The sDrive30i is rear-wheel drive, but all of the others come standard with all-wheel drive. All X3s have an eight-speed automatic transmission, and competitors include the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Volvo XC60.

What’s New on the 2023 BMW X3?

After a refresh for 2022, the X3 sees only minor changes to feature availability this year.

What Features in the 2023 BMW X3 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Low-speed automatic emergency braking
  • Navigation with 10.25-inch touchscreen
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Power liftgate
  • Keyless entry system

Available features include:

  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Wireless device charging
  • Harman Kardon surround-sound system
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument panel
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen display
  • M Sport Package

Should I Buy the 2023 BMW X3?

The BMW X3 offers a sporty-yet-composed ride, good passenger space and an impressive lineup of refined engines. It’s a better value than many BMWs, though adding items from the long list of tempting available features drives up the price. Cargo room could be better and some rivals offer posher interiors, but the X3 is still a fine competitor in its class.
