The subcompact BMW X2 uses the same platform as the German automaker’s boxier (and more practical) X1 SUV. The five-seat X2, however, has a more coupelike roofline, which gives it a sportier appearance. It’s powered by the same 228-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as the X1 and comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. A 301-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is available. Competitors include the Lexus UX, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and Mini Clubman.
