BMW’s march toward digitalization continues with the 2025 2 Series coupe, which includes the 230i and all-wheel-drive 230i xDrive, as well as the M240i and M240i xDrive. Like many of the Bavarian automaker’s offerings, the compact sport coupe now features a standard Curved Display, which melds the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 14.9-inch central display under one seamless, curved screen.

Running BMW Operating System 8.5, the updated infotainment system responds to touch and voice commands, as well as the good ol’ iDrive knob. The large display area is customizable to suit individual driver’s preferences — showing, for example, the navigation map on the home screen alongside other vehicle menus. The screen also houses digital climate controls, which replace the physical climate controls of the previous 2 Series coupe to control functions such as the heated seats, heated steering wheel (if fitted), temperature and more.

For the new tech, as well as a few other upgrades, BMW is asking just $580 more than it did for the 2024 model, with the 2025 2 Series coupe starting at $40,375 (all prices include $1,175 destination).

What Else Is New?

BMW adds a few other standard bits and pieces for 2025, including heated front seats and ambient lighting. There are also new interior trims and upholstery colors and new paint and wheel options.

Standard and Available Safety Features

Standard safety features on the 2025 2 Series include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system and hands-free automated parking are available.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

BMW didn’t touch the 2 Series’ smooth and powerful powertrains. The coupe is still available in two intensities. The 230i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 255 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque. The M240i gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six making 382 hp and 369 pounds-feet.

An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission available with either engine. Rear-wheel drive is standard with both engines, while BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive is available with either for $2,000. Fuel economy figures have not been announced for the 2025 2 Series coupe, but they are unlikely to change from 2024. The 2024 230i is rated at 26/35/30 mpg city/highway/combined and the 230i xDrive at 25/33/28 mpg. The more powerful M240i manages 23/32/26 mpg with both rear- and all-wheel drive.

Availability and Pricing

The 2025 BMW 2 Series will go into production August 2024, with deliveries to start shortly thereafter. Full line pricing is as follows:

  • 230i: $40,375
  • 230i xDrive: $42,375
  • M240i: $51,275
  • M240i xDrive: $53,275
