What Is the 2022 Acura NSX?

The Acura NSX is an exotic sports car with room for two people. Power comes from a gas-electric hybrid drivetrain that features two electric motors driving the front wheels, plus a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine and an additional electric motor powering the rear wheels. Total output is 600 horsepower. A nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is standard. Competitors include the Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911 and Audi R8

What’s New on the 2022 Acura NSX?

The 2022 model year marks the NSX’s final year of production, and the mid-engine sports car is going out with a bang with the debut of the Type S version. The Type S’s drivetrain is rated at 600 hp, which is 27 hp more than last year, and it also gets an updated transmission that makes faster upshifts, according to Acura. Other changes include new wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires, new front styling, a carbon-fiber rear diffuser and a carbon-fiber roof. Inside, the Type S gets an Alcantara simulated-suede headliner, contrast stitching and an embroidered Type S logo on the glove box. Just 300 will be offered in the U.S.

What Features in the 2022 Acura NSX Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity
  • Navigation
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Leather and simulated-suede upholstery
  • Heated seats
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

Available features include:

  • Carbon-ceramic brakes
  • Interior carbon-fiber accents
  • Satellite radio

Should I Buy the 2022 Acura NSX?

Like the original that was last offered as a 2005 model in the U.S., the current-generation NSX is the kind of sports car that can be used on a daily basis. The responsiveness and seamlessness of the hybrid system impressed us, but the car’s steering feedback and ho-hum multimedia system left us cold. Even so, the NSX turns heads as well as any exotic sports car.
