What Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona?
The Hyundai Kona is a subcompact SUV that saw big improvements via a 2024 redesign, which brought new features and a larger cabin with more room for both people and cargo. The base powertrain is a 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Optional is a 190-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder that pairs with a nine-speed automatic; an all-electric version named Kona Electric is also available. The Kona’s competitors include the Chevrolet Trax, Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks.
What’s New on the 2025 Hyundai Kona?
After its full redesign last year, the Kona gets a couple of trim-level changes for 2025. The Convenience Package previously available on the SEL trim is now its own trim called (appropriately enough) SEL Convenience. A new N Line S trim delivers the sporty appearance upgrades of the N Line trim at a lower price point. Multicolored ambient interior lighting is now standard on the N Line and N Line S; it was previously exclusive to the line-topping Limited trim.

Should I Buy the 2025 Hyundai Kona?
The Hyundai Kona is an appealing choice among subcompact SUVs, delivering a lot of value and features for the money. The cabin offers very respectable room for the class, and the Kona’s tidy exterior dimensions make it easy to maneuver and park. The line-topping Limited trim is pricier than most rivals, but it comes with a number of upscale features that aren’t available on competitors. The sporty N Line trims boast a racier look but no exclusive performance upgrades.
